There can be no excuse for boomer depravity and wealth extraction

...but alas, Undisc' future employees over at The Economist are trying to point out some of the boomers health-related shortcomings.

For more than a century before 2010, an American could expect to live longer than anyone born before them. Between 1880 and 1980, life expectancy at birth rose from 39 to 74. The pace of improvement slowed after that, but did not stop. Between 1980 and 2010, Americans gained nearly two extra years of life with each passing decade.

"Then something went wrong.""Then something went wrong."

Typical American-healthcare-is-broken story, with opioids and gun violence and suicides, #unhealthysociety.

As people in other rich countries continued to enjoy ever longer lives, life expectancy for Americans flatlined after 2010, then fell. Obesity and diabetes help explain this, but rates of those are rising almost everywhere. Opiates are a big factor too and hurt America uniquely, for nowhere comes close to its rate of drug deaths.
But another major contributor is hiding in plain sight, an entire generation of Americans that are singularly unhealthy: the baby boomers.

Of course, they are "unhealthy." Having amassed all their wealth and unearned status, it's very much boomer cope/interest to spread this mythology of ouh, we need healthcare; we so unhealthy!! Give us Social Security!! Fuckers.

Boomers have been far more likely to die in their 60s of heart attacks and strokes than the generations before them. Smoking early in life, among other factors, raised their risk at an age when cardiovascular disease becomes more common.

But across their whole lifespans, American baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, have been the worst off. They have repeatedly experienced higher death rates than previous generations.

The authors speculate that Gen X will see Le stagnate over their lives, too, but maybe US life expectancy overall will catch up to the rest of the world after the boomers have been purged? I say good riddance to em.

Fiat delenda est. Saylor too. We shall add the boomers and the BIPtards to the execution rack. Fuck 'em all.

America is in decline morally, economically, militarily and health wise.
The Empire is in decline and with that goes the prospects of its subjects.

China won the trade war and now you have Hormuz- Suez-Hormuz end of petrodollar.

Oh but you cannot see because you are blinded Libertarian echo chamber circle jerking.
How sad.
Don't mention the war - it does not reverberate well inside the delusional Libertarian echo chamber.

Here in socialist New Zealand we enjoy universal healthcare and pension from age 65. Nice bonus on top of the sat stack.

Even @denlillaapan in Iceland is at the teat of the state grabbing the welfare payments he claims as a 'creative' writer.

The stress and toil of raising the ungrateful, lazy, entitled spoiled brat Gen Xers does leave its mark but us Boomers are well positioned to live forever while the Gen Xers die off from obesity, lack of wealth planning and basic hygiene.

I'm enjoying watching den's slow descent into boomer racism. Manifesto when?

I've gotten seriously radicalized in recent times

reply

Don't mention The War, or The Greater Israel Project.

Stick to easy, divisive and populist topics that align with your arsemilking intent.

Dang boomers.

I don't think average life expectancy is particularly relevant. What I want to know is life expectancy for people who actually try to take preventative measures, rather than just relying on modern medical miracles to keep them above ground.
