Instead of storing private keys on your phone, Coconut Wallet connects to your wallet using an extended public key (xPub).
This allows you to monitor balances, generate receiving addresses, and prepare transactions while your signing device remains completely air-gapped.
Because your seed phrase never exists on your online device, there is no attack path for your private keys through the mobile app.

Bravo to this wallet! It has a lot of features and they place great importance on security. I also like that they've incorporated inheritance functions, as this is very important and a hot topic these days!
That’s a good approach; I’d like to try these wallets with my children, so they can receive and view transactions and other things without being able to spend the sats, as it’s a watch-only wallet.
That's right. Since it's a watch-only wallet, your kids can safely check their balance and receive Bitcoin, but they'll need a hardware wallet to sign any transaction before they can spend it.
