TLDRTLDR

• Week 3 started as please “video dont die when the bottom player shifts from theater mode."
  • Installed Impress PWA on AWS iPhone environment, trying to get the compact player to stay live while you browse, and a persistent across a video root keeps failing but I am staying persistent.
• Did a lot of UX audit pass and Studio finally keeps imported captions honest across save as they had been failing.
• Also shipped the boring stuff layer with immutable AWS recovery backups. But the fun stuff is the ElevenLabs dubbing, more on that at the end.

The Long and Winding OneThe Long and Winding One

After the Week 2 post, installed Impress still had that familiar PWA curse.

• Safe-area skip links, focus chrome that would not die, channel hero quirks, and a compact player that kept leaving the video behind.
• Hardened made the compact player show live video while you move around the app.
  • Deeper cut: one persistent video element rooted in the app so theater reparent, signed URL rotation, delayed readiness, and route handoffs do not remount the media out from under you.
• Moved Bitcoin Tip on channel near hero controls where a thumb can actually find it.
• The hardest part is getting resume to work functionally while understanding only handoffs should restart and forward the watch wheel from the persistent element so the entire desktop scroll still feels native.
• Still think this is a must have so will keep spending time on it.

UX audit, said plainlyUX audit, said plainly

• A deliberate card click starts playback now no more clicking again once on the video page
  • also raw watch URLs stay paused unless you are continuing a session
• Had issues with Studio this week over auto-saving so now Studio draft backup is labeled as draft backup and defaults off so it does not pretend to be Save to Impress then doesn't only to find it just saved in Studio
• READY publication now requires a successful ranged read-back of a browser playback object
  • weird issue where in the library it would say proccessed only to find it was skipping so we had to set harder gates around this. because “READY” should mean ready
  • also this included saving an impress video from studio
• Also small minor action around "Copy actions" they now finally show confirmation instead of closing a menu, so thats cool, i tell ya its the little things
• So this was a must fix this week but so important Sidebar collapse gives width back to the theater.
• Also made the /create page also go clear glass.
• also have another refresh around this page even more around templates possibly, still thinking through it

• Studio v1.5 had a nasty empty first draft path on all videos.
  • now import captions should functionally save to impress and burn in on video
• Waveforms now share the temp workspaces and got isolated so concurrent Studio work does not stop on itself
• A ton of other small improvements, also thinking over time we will just continue to make these tools insanely better

• Week 1 what missing backups felt like .
  • This week I added a controlled maintenance screen for deploys and immutable AWS recovery backups with versioning and Compliance Object Lock. Sounds more important than just saying were backing things up now.

PlebLab dubbing — infrastructure, not a paradePlebLab dubbing — infrastructure, not a parade

The headline ship is PlebLab-first video dubbing, merged and deployed.

• We shipped and deployed the core foundation for video dubbing.
• Creators can fund dubs with Creator Credits, and eligible public or unlisted videos can optionally allow viewers to sponsor a dub. Shared language links will open the requested version when available and fall back to the original video when they are not.
• This is the infrastructure release, not the public launch. Dubbing is still disabled, no invoices or production dubs have been created, private videos are not supported yet, and the production database intentionally has no dubbing records.
• Eventually will get this wired to lightning, will be spending all day tomorrow on this as I plan to showcase at Bitcoin Builders Club tomorrow.

Still open, said plainly:

• Didn't get to work on Remix Mark I in Labs this week, but anticipating getting back to it soonish!
• Notifications via email and web push at some point.
• Comments at some point, thats a whole thing I am not ready to dive into yet.
• End card branding is on the roadmap for the creators.
• Whisper upgrades on Captions, could also just use ElevenLabs for this as well.
• Haha AWS Device Farm proved we can install a real-iPhone PWA in tailscale.

• Will be show casing a lot of what we built with Impress at Bitcoin Builders Club tomorrow. Also trying to get this ElevenLabs thing all wired up before Startup Day in GDL
• Also been playing with video collages too!
