Finalyl we are seeing AMD move to get in on the AI rack play.

Nvidia controls more than 95% of the data center GPU market, according to the Futurum Group. AMD only holds some 4.5% of the market, but Helios could change that.

“I think there’s a serious case in which AMD does great and can get to 20% and 25%. And by the way, this is hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue,” said Daniel Newman, analyst and CEO of the Futurum Group.

AMD doesn't need to "win" the rack race to see a huge payoff, and given the need for compute, any other option is going to be able to pick up significant contracts.

Good to have options and excited as a long time AMD enjooyer...

But they're both still constrained by TSMC manufacturing so its not like it adds new supply. A nice kicker would be if they announced making these at the new Intel fab.

CUDA also is the real moat they need to overcome, AMD software has gotten better, but hard to see how the commercial ecosystem catches up anytime soon unless the chips are waaaay better and nvidia stops improving... and the nvidia-tesla collusion rumor on HVDC infrastructure for the energy efficiency has me thinking nvidia isn't done.

No mention of the deal size with MSFT, so it seems more of a due-diligence pilot than material, stock is relatively flat compared to the market today
