Honestly shocked by how low the penetration rate is for paid AI subs. Demand for a 150 IQ friend in your pocket is surprisingly low.

Definitely living in an X AI bubble where everyone seems to be constantly orchestrating agent swarms 24/7.

Do you pay for a personal AI subscription?

Currently use Openrouter API because I'm giving different harnesses and models an honest try before settling back on something, so far opencode go or zen (or just keep Openrouter) is the winner.

also load up credits on PPQ now and then.

And free chatgpt/duckai/brave leo to ask how long something lasts in the fridge before going bad

Note that I realized that last use case is the extent of use for most people outside the online AI bubble, if they use it at all

A lot of normies use their work subs

Also free tier Gemini probably does heavy lifting since it's dropped into Google

It AI 10x's you, 10x0 is still 0 for many

I pay for:

  • CGPT (basic plan) - subsidized $100/year via my US Bank Triple Cash card
  • Gemini (basic plan, appears to give premium gemini features to everyone in my youtube family plan)
  • Basic X premium (bare bones grok acess)
  • Replit plan for side projects
  • API access for said side projects

That's quite a lot. Do you find that you need all of it?

reply

probably not!

I should probably ditch gemini- i wanted the gemini chrome plugin and also it was supposed to integrate into their ecosystem (youtube, docs, sheets) but implementation kinda stinks. was using their gemini cli for a while months back for front end stuff when they were still competitive before codex/claude really separated themselves.

Yes, but: I've downgraded Claude, cancelled GPT, in favor of using PPQ, which for the same, some days more, work costs me less than half my former subscription costs. Currently saving towards 2BTC to buy me a proper sovereign setup.

reply

Yes but I use ppq.ai

I pay for Claude Pro and Cursor Pro.

I have access to ChatGPT through my university

I have API credits too, but that's through grant funding
