I think there is also a bit of a feeling in the ESG circles that it's "bad" to profit from such investments -- or at least it's bad to profit from them very much. However, such investments do not carry less risk simply because they are pursued for ESG reasons.

I imagine that there simply aren't piles of people who want to risk their money for low returns.
