I don't wanna sound rough about a better governance that Modi provided India in the last 12 years, but it cost freedom of speech to the 1.5 billion people who (probably 90%) didn't even care for it or were so busy to earn a livelihood, or weren't educated enough.
TBH, India is a country with the best herd mentality overall. And it's not today, it's forever been like this.
Now as the herd have come to know about Bitchat, I'm hopeful that more will start using it and also realise the importance of privacy, decentralisation and Bitcoin.

Yes. But I'm not sure that government can stop people using Bitchat. And this has actually given Bitchat a free marketing. Now everyone wants to use it all of a sudden.
These things do often have the reverse effect.
Yes, people who didn't realise until now that their privacy was gone, are suddenly woke up. One of my buddy who has been reporting the protests told me that millions of students downloaded Bitchat overnight by gping to the nearest network available place.
Actually there were protests for continuos exam paper leaks in india, and to contain government halted network for the protest places.
