Check in bio. The formatting only is not rendering in bio posts
I was checking in bio, but the problem is that mentions in general don't accept formatting at the moment because of the way we render them.
For example this link

as you can see it lacks the
codeformat that we achieve via backticksIf instead we write a normal URL

bottom line, mentions such as item mentions don't support formatting but we're going to add support soon. The problem, really, is that mentions are rendered as normal React components, they don't have the same formatting awareness that other, normal, Text nodes have.
ahhh I see, custom link formatting for item mentions is not working! This is a known issue within the editor, I previously thought we fixed this but it's clearly not the case as I had other reports like this.

Sometimes, I want to give myself a pat on the shoulder because I manage to pack a multitude of things within one day. Today was no exception, in which I took my children to the local library (to borrow books and accumulate points in anticipation for the latest Book Bugs campaign), purchased a birthday gift (to prevent myself from rushing when the date approached) and visited the Istana (Presidential House). Not only that, I also managed to finish marking my sixth graders’ formal emails on the trips to and fro the Istana. Everything accomplished quite nicely within my expectations.

The problem with remittance is that the other side needs to have a use for the Bitcoin too. If you're sending sats to someone for food, and they can't pay for food with these sats, then there is a problem that needs to be solved on the other side first.
I did a project initiation consulting/brainstorm gig with an African finance consortium a few years back where they were on a mission to know how they could use Bitcoin for remittance and all they needed to do was implement the same path Block has done in the US: work the local payment terminal market.
Their legal/risk management quickly shot it down because they'd need to be the ultimate guarantor of the bitcoin in the phase until they could just do self sovereign terminals, and this was deemed impossible to defend in a region where there is always a significant risk of coups and violent oppression. Real AK-47s in the hands of foreign sponsored militant operations do complicate self custody.
I heard later from my colleague that they ended up planning for a US bank (I'd guess Signature) partnership based on USDC and that in turn broke down before implementation - lucky for them and their clients, lol. They gave up and used correspondence banking instead, and now are being good boys, competing with WU et al on local branding alone - defo not on cost.
The only thing that makes me happy about this is that they excluded all the shitcoin scams.
Why not battle? This use case you are correct sat to sat transfers might not be as useful as one may think but with Strike you can easily set up an account and send money worldwide into someone’s bank account.
Western union is still viable because we have no other way to send physical cash long distances without it getting loss and stolen. But if people are going to use remitly they can use strike instead!
Because orange pilling knights are annoying. Especially when the answer is always bitcoin, despite not knowing the situation of the person you are talking to, or their counterparty.

I don't really wish this for you but really bro. Go be stuck in some backwater country in North Africa or something... without all your 1st world luxuries. In many of the countries that are on the receiving end of the remittance normies don't have bank accounts, or the bank accounts aren't usable. They have cash.
So, unfortunately I am speaking from experience. Because I have been stuck like that. And there is nothing so great as getting a lifeline loan from a friend through WU that you can walk out with cash, drive 20 hours in a pickup to the airport, and get the fuck out of a miserable place.
Bitcoin could fix this, maybe, partially. But it doesn't fix this for most people right now. Let's not be elitist, spoiled westerners in our criticism of everyone else that just doesn't have the standards you project upon them as prerequisites.

The reason why Bitcoin solves things is because we feel the friction. And then when we solve it because we need it solved for us, we share the solution. So sure, you are right about that.
What I think you're wrong about though is that Strike is better than remitly. Strike is possibly better than remitly for Bitcoiners. It is not per-se better for no-coiners. I would mention it, and that's it? But also, then Bitcoin doesn't fix it, Strike, a corporation fixes it (and it still needs KYC.)

I, normie-opti, migrated in from Eastern Turkey, and I have a great desk job with a US company in Boston. I make about 40x what the entirety of my family back home combined makes, so I wanna send back some cash rather than buy a mansion. I pay my taxes, have my citizenship, all is in order. My salary gets paid through ACH, directly to my Chase account. Sending money directly to their Ziraat Bank account from Chase is difficult due to politics, so I want to use a middleman that makes sure the money gets there.
Please correct me if I am living in the past and a scenario like this is no longer a US reality
