I'm leaning towards either this weekend, or sometime next week; and have no strong idea regarding timezones.
One thing I'm wondering about is whether I should even aim to have it be synchronous like the classic AMA concept, or rather do a preliminary poll for timezone interest, and then post earlier, and come back after a few hours to answer questions.
For example, if most site users are going to be posting and reading during afternoon-evening EST, then I could post the final AMA thread at noon EST [which is around sunset, local time], go to sleep, and return to answer questions after waking up.
the delay of a few days is because my Alby Hub isn't restarting nicely after not having any logins for a few months, and I need to figure out how to restore it after possibly having trusted the wrong password manager

In support of the asynchronous idea, you could do something like I've done with AMA announcements: making an announcement post several days in advance. You could ask for questions in that post and then add whatever questions you gathered ahead of time to the actual AMA thread when it's time to start.

Also, I meant to add: let's pick a time that is more convenient for you. I don't want to interrupt your dinner hour. Just let me know when would be convenient.
While I like the asynchronous aspect, I've noticed that many AMAs really feed off the host answering questions live. It gets people thinking and leads to better conversation. So, it is best of we pick a time when you are able yo be online for an hour or so.
Cross posting is an excellent idea! I would do it for the main ama post as well as any announcements we do.

thanks; do you think it is reasonable to cross-post for either the announcement or the actual AMA thread? my inclination is to cross-post for the announcement only, so that comment fees are minimal during the actual AMA

reasonable for posting the actual AMA, although I'll be off to dinner soon after posting it. I don't mind returning for the bulk of the questions after a few hours, and that might be overall best.

I have updated my SN profile pic; the original photo is public domain, and I consider the subject sufficiently bitcoin-adjacent, while still causing astute observers to do a bit of a double-take.
