I was telling my wife about this and she was somewhat incredulous. She said something to the effect of: "I can't believe bitcoiners think this is gonna work! No one wants to take on this kind of risk!"
I believe spouses often have a clarity about each other's passions and pursuits that is sometimes lacking from introspection.
So in the interests of science: go tell you spouse about the ColdCard thing and then report back how they respond.
Bitcoin is rekt.9.1%
ColdCard is a bad company.42.4%
These things happen.36.4%
Buy more bitcorn.12.1%

Sell everything!!!
But she says that every bear market. Could be a bottom signal!
Perhaps this is all part of the ritual of the bear market.
Blackrock's cybersec team doing the lords work
Inflow number go up
The bottom of the bear being marked by a bitcoin only HWW manufacturer implosion was not on my bingo card. Would have expected some suitcoiner shinanigans.
"isn't the whole point of Bitcoin that it just uses a computer?"
That's pretty solid.
This whole thing reminds me of linux neck-bearded nerds: they act like if not knowing how to use the computer by interacting directly with the kernel is a sin and assume everyone should know, and scoff on those who don't know. They assume their world must be everyone's. But 99.99% of people just want to send an email and buy that new appliance from amazon. The exact same scenario applies to bitcoin.
Very interesting correlation!
Breakfast this morning turned into a tutorial on generating sufficient entropy.
tmi haha
Someone had to explain why there were 2048 word cut outs scattered over the kitchen table
When she realises that those hundreds of dice you have is not to play DnD..
It's much worse
LOL
LOL, obvs!!
I tried that last night. She just went to sleep.
Smart spouse.
Got lucky there. She's pretty darn good.
Just one of the reasons why serious conversations work better after food and coffee. Captive audience.
My wife: "whatever. Did you put out the garbage?"
Your wife looks like my wife.
Hahah 😂😆
She's a keeper.
"Okay, but did YOU lose anything?"
straight and to the point.
My wife doesn't understand anything about Bitcoin except that it's a reserve for our future, so if I explain entropy to her she's going to be speechless...hahahaha
Direct quote from text thread:
Oh dear! Secretly she is a nym on SN...
Sometimes, the less the womenfolk know the better.
With high confidence, I can say her response would be something like “How much did you lose? Nothing. Sucks for those other people.”
I went to run the experiment and asked her; she simply replied:
She couldn't have been more sincere.
The result? More entropy in the universe.
Wife is out on a trip at the moment so can't ask her. But I'm pretty sure she would understand that this was a failure on ColdCard's part, not Bitcoin.
My wife doesn't like bitcoin. She doesn't know. She still thnks it's "done" after the recent drop.
do you think you will ever win her over or is it better to just leave sleeping dogs alone?
I'm making inroads, but I'm not about to shake the boat with a hard push when I can just chip away over the years.
She just listens to me as I give a lecture on entropy.
lectures may not be the most useful.
Some things are just better left unsaid.
“What happened?”
“Ok”
just got sweeped, not sure how to tell her....
