I haven't used Swan since they froze my withdrawal years ago during the Prime Trust mess.
Recently they have been soliciting me to buy bitcoin from them again, but I have not. I have no bitcoin at Swan.
For some reason they sent me this email today:
Our records show the name you entered for a wallet on your account suggests you may be using a Coldcard hardware device. It may be affected by the issue Coinkite described in their security advisory: https://blog.coinkite.com/coldcard-mk3-seed-generation-warning/
As a precaution, we are temporarily pausing Bitcoin withdrawals that appear to be going to a Coldcard-labeled wallet.
To release and approve any pending Bitcoin withdrawals, please reply to this email and let us know that you have read the Coldcard advisory linked above, checked if your device was affected, and taken any necessary steps.
Taken on its face, I guess this could be seen as protecting its customers, but isn't it my business where I send my bitcoin?
My question:
I haven't used a withdrawal address in years. I withdrew manually, and gave them a new address for each withdrawal back in the day.
How would Swan tie me, or anyone, to a particular hardware wallet? I never gave them that information and I don't think they asked.
If I did have bitcoin on Swan, I probably could not get it off. I think there is an old post describing the hell they put me through years ago.
Thanks for sharing with the community.
How can I find out which wallet you use for withdrawals?
I'm speechless!

It's been a while, but I don't think I ever withdrew directly to a cold wallet from Swan, nor do I think I was even using a cold card then!
Probably a generic email to all customers. The number of replies will give them an indication of how many current active users they have. That’s probably a very different number to those who login regularly.
Maybe they are just sending this to all customers.
That's what I thought, but does that mean they are barring all withdrawals?
Not sure.

I've never used Swan. Where would this happen in their process?
Did you name one of your wallets "cold" something?
I'm sure they'd use any excuse to pause or limit withdrawals
I doubt it, but I don't remember. I probably would have named it Bob or Bill if I needed to name it.
