Hello World.... (err....this beautiful corner of the world)
I wanted to take some time here to write a little note to document my feelings right now.... I am not sure if it will help me in anyway but maybe it will help someone else?
I am just a common man.... I walk this path with openness, curiosity, and love. I challenge myself to do so without judgement of others or bias towards other... We all walk our own paths.
My feelings on Bitcoin have not waivered one bit.... Bitcoin the Protocol/Network/Base Layer has not changed because of some hack....or because of some bug....or because of some use case that "rugged" its users...
As a sovereign individual I recognize I am solely responsible for the value I provide to the world and what I do to secure that value for the future is something I do not want to put on anyone else's shoulders.
Companies, people, organizations however have decided to try and take on that responsibility... I think this is the/a "red herring" that befalls so many of us. We all like hitting the easy button, we all like the idea of giving some part of our existence over to someone else....this way we have someone else to blame for our mistakes.
Two paradigms....Bitcoin-Self sovereignty vs. FIAT - dependency on others
I believe Bitcoin is the path of hope and sustainability into the future.... I believe FIAT is simply more of the same shitty world we had/have (depending on your current perspective).

I dunno man.
I'm super bearish, lately, for many different reasons.
What I keep reminding myself is that there are no serious alternatives. Gold (and all monetized metals) has, and will fail as a serious fiat threat. Equities and real-estate are riddled with counter-party risks and corruption. Bonds are even worse. There are no other cryptocurrencies that even come close to Bitcoin for security, decentralization, and fair distribution.
So, yea.... I kinda dislike Bitcoin right now, and especially this fiat-brained "Bitcoin community" we find ourselves in. But what's the alternative? Where can a bear go?
Do you still think that intrinsically, Bitcoin is a good idea?
Absolutely 100% without a doubt in my mind - read my reply to fiatbad above :)
Humanity 100-1000 years from now will view this time period as the beginning of the new age of civilization.... I have no idea how long this period lasts - but we all have the opportunity to "carpe diem" and build the future we want to see upon this protocol we call Bitcoin...
Your mention of no serious alternatives is a good one (and reminds me of Bitcoin T.I.N.A. (There is no Alternative) from a few years ago - though he may be back?)....
An alternative will pop up in the future - of that you should be assured.... The world is full of very smart people doing very smart things and much like the Black hat/White hat hackers working on Bitcoin right now - there is a certain beauty in the world of these dichotomies and an elegance to the dance of good and evil. (Though I do not believe in such absolutes as good or evil - I do believe in the perspective or consensus of what humanity considers good or evil)
Humans on both sides of Bitcoin will likely be fighting over it for a very long time - I believe we are at the beginning of the next chapter of growth and flourishing as a result of Bitcoin overwriting the base layer of value communication for us all. The resulting freedoms will allow humans to flourish in ways only dreamed of by our ancestors.
I think as a bear you can look in the mirror and ask yourself what world you want to work/build towards... and work towards that.
Afterall - all of us are nothing but the reflections of all the input we receive from those around us.
Well said. Bitcoin's greatest strength isn't just its scarcity, it's the self-sovereignty that comes with true self-custody, where you hold both the keys and the responsibility.
Do you think most people are ready to embrace that responsibility, or will convenience always keep them relying on third parties?
