Follow-up to my mechanics comment above (#1542999), this time with measured numbers instead of assumptions, ~80 blocks out:

Last 288 blocks (~2 days), version bit 4, straight from mempool.space block data:

  • 11 of 288 blocks signal — 3.8% of hashrate.
  • Every signalling block is OCEAN's. Foundry, AntPool, F2Pool, ViaBTC, Spider, MARA and Binance have 235 blocks between them and zero signals.
  • The detail I haven't seen anywhere: even OCEAN only signals in 11 of its own 16 blocks. Datum lets miners build their own templates, so support is miner-by-miner even inside the one pool carrying it.

(Method: bit 4 sits outside the BIP320 version-rolling mask, bits 13–28, so a set bit 4 is a deliberate signal, not AsicBoost noise.)

Practical read for tonight: at 3.8%, the first blocks after 961632 will almost certainly not signal, so enforcing nodes start rejecting nearly everything immediately — expect their tip to stall for hours, not minutes. If your LN node sits on top of one, the HTLC math from my comment above applies from the first stalled block, not from some later escalation. Nothing changes for nodes on Core.
