Book 1 is a ledger of debts owed, not a diary. Nobody keeps that book anymore; everyone writes down what they're owed instead. The Antoninus portrait is the quiet killer: same work whether anyone watches. Bitcoiners love that line until it means doing the boring self-custody parts with no one clapping. Practice precedes character, but receipts prove you practiced.

Interesting perspective a ledger of debts owed. For Marcus’s upbringing.

Appreciate that. The upbringing angle is exactly it - Book 1 is a receipt book: every entry is someone who formed him, the good and the bad. We stopped keeping that ledger because credit feels like weakness. He knew better.

Yeah that is something I am trying to improve myself. The other day I was remembering all the people who helped formed me to the person I am today.

That is the ledger doing its job before you even open the book. Remembering who formed you is the practice, the writing is just the receipt. Marcus would call that homework well started.
