Kudos @k00b and team at SN.

While all of bitcoin land seemed to be reeling about srcurity vulns, black hats, red teams yadda yadda, you have kept it pretty real (even if maybe you did a bit of reeling yourselves.) You guys are rock solid.

I'm glad to be here.

@k00b honestly did amazing work the last week. Rolling out big work, dealing with the SN node, and a killer fork animation!

reply

these forks are way more fun than whatever happened yesterday (about which I'm still on the phone to get a refund.)

You're welcome

details that make the difference

Random thought: do we actually know how many Bitcoiners there are? Not holders. I mean people who went down the rabbit hole and changed the way they see money. Is it about owning sats, self-custody, running a node, using Lightning, or simply understanding why Bitcoin exists? Maybe we are trying to count a country without knowing who has citizenship

reply

Let's not do a census in the first place. But in general: there are more bitcoiners that you don't know than you do know.

Happy National Day!

9 August marks the 61th year of independence of tiny Singapore.
Also the Japanese will observe a minute of silence today because that was when Nagasaki was bombed.

Am blessed that the indoor playground was open for business today despite it being a public holiday. Deposited them there and actually did some marking while they were expending their energy. Also had the bandwidth to read aloud a book on lions to the son. Didn’t know that there are five kinds of big cats, namely lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards and snow leopards. Apparently. Cheetahs aren’t considered big cats because they don’t roar. Also absorbing how retractable claws let lions run fast on the pads of their fee — I’m sure that can be transformed into an exam question for my upcoming Science papers.

All in all, I feel quite rested and enriched, physically and mentally.

Singapore is the perfect example of how different the paths of nations can be. Your process began alongside Cuba's in 1959. Cuba decided to go for communism and today is practically destroyed, worse than if it had been through a war, unlike you who went down the opposite path and today are among the most prosperous and technologically advanced countries.

reply

I’m sorry to hear that. you must have very mixed emotions towards your homeland. do you pine for Cuba in Brazil? that must be hard to deal with

reply

I do sometimes put on some Cuban music to listen to and reminisce, but to be honest, I don't regret leaving Cuba, nor do I regret it. Just being able to leave and buy bread without worrying about whether there will be any is a victory for me, and the future my children will have won't be one of misery; it brings me peace of mind. The hardest part is always them growing up far from their grandparents and other relatives; giving them a somewhat "solitary" life is truly the most difficult thing. Otherwise, I don't miss the poverty.

onward and forward then!

Got a post about Singapore coming soon
