Did you know that the massacre on August 9, 1969, at Sharon Tate's home happened because of a mistake by Charles Manson?

The leader of "The Family" cult wanted to take revenge on the property's former tenant, a music producer who had rejected his songs. Manson was unaware that the man had moved out and that the residence was now rented by director Roman Polanski and actress Sharon Tate, who was just two weeks away from giving birth.

Manson was not present at the scene; he mentally manipulated his followers into committing the brutal crime. The killers broke into the house and took the lives of Tate and four of her friends. The actress pleaded in vain for the life of her unborn baby before being murdered, an event that shocked Hollywood and definitively ended the peaceful "free love" era of the 1960s.

One of the biggest curiosities is that Manson justified his crimes under an apocalyptic theory called "Helter Skelter," named after the famous song by The Beatles. He firmly believed that the British band was sending him hidden messages through the White Album to trigger a racial war. In 1971, Manson and his accomplices were sentenced to death, but their sentences were commuted to life imprisonment when California temporarily abolished the death penalty in 1972.
