This is the best and most readable summary I've seen of the OpenAI and HuggingFace situation where the OpenAI models not only brought down servers with hacking, but were then set free to do it again.
Needless to say, OpenAI does not come out of this looking great.
It's recklessness as advertising. They only get out of it without a huge lawsuit because of connections between the two companies. Governmentally, if any of us tried this wouldn't we be sitting in a cell as a consequence of our negligence?
