I agree Bitcoin can reduce dependence on banks and political discretion.
My point is that it does not make either irrelevant.
Right now Bitcoin is competing with:
- roughly 5% long-term Treasury yields
- persistent inflation
- massive corporate borrowing to finance the AI buildout
- and a persistent wealth and adoption gap that determines who can actually accumulate enough BTC for that sovereignty to matter
Sound money helps.
Self-custody helps.
Encryption helps.
But none of them erase the economic and political environment around you.
Bitcoin can reduce dependence on the system. But the system remains relevant.
My view of Bitcoin is it presents a monetary model that is inherently decentralised and depoliticised.
It is true the fiat monetary system remains very much dominant and has even imo worked to keep Bitcoin assigned to a role that does not threaten its dominance by steering use of Bitcoin away from use as a MoE and much more towards use as a speculative commodity, taxed and tracked and traced.
For myself the more I can store my value and transaction in Bitcoin the better- but its still not easy and the banks and governments remain largely in control of MoE and SoV.
I am not for removing government- imo it is required as long as people mostly want government to organise things and that seems like that will be the case for a long time- probably forever. But bankers having such a high degree of power and control over the political system via patronage, buying-owning our politics is a threat to citizens having adequate say and power.
Now with AI rearing its head these things become even more urgent, yet most people seem more concerned about their speculative gains than freedom and liberty.
I have enough bitcoin to never need more income but still rely on banks for most transactions.
The banks and their sly backroom patronage-control over our governments I see as the greatest threat to our freedoms- maybe I am wrong!
In providing the ability to hold liquidity and wealth free of the banks Bitcoin gives hope of what may be possible...but what is achieved will be determined by people and how they respond.
Hopefully Bitcoin makes bankers and their capture of our politics less relevant.
Fuck the bankers.
End corporate capture of our democracies.
Bitcoin can help achieve this.
