Happy and relieved to finally introduce fundmypiggy.com to the community. We're a crowdfunding platform that turns cash gifts into real Bitcoin. Our model is fully on-chain and non-custodial.

WHY
There are three pesky problems with gifting Bitcoin that we directly address:

  1. Bitcoiners typically don't want to spend their Bitcoin (too much friction to take out of cold storage, and/or would rather HODL)
  2. Nocoiners don't have any Bitcoin to spend
  3. Gift cards are kinda lame; real Bitcoin straight to your own wallet is better

HOW
With our service, gifting doesn't require anyone to spend their own Bitcoin or know anything about Bitcoin. Gifts are processed using familiar fiat payment methods. The magic is that those cash gifts are turned into real UTXOs (not a gift card) and sent to a wallet only the saver controls. And it's easy enough that even grandma can do it to gift Bitcoin to her grandchild (assuming grandma knows how to use a passkey). She just needs to know how to use her debit card, said passkey, and "hit send" to her grandchild's name.

Every gift involves two on-chain transactions: first to the gifter's wallet, then to the saver's. All of this happens directly on site, without seed phrases or alphanumeric strings.

FOR WHOM
- Parents saving for college
- Creators looking for fan support to build a treasury; and as a complement to their Patreon/Buy Me a Coffee (business checking)
- Anyone* looking to fund a long-term initiative, such as a career change or project

*We call this group "doers" because we couldn't think of a better term. :/

A low time preference + long-term planning + Bitcoin = generally a good approach to making shit happen in life. This is the ethos that underpins our service.

BENEFITS
To Savers: stack no-KYC gifted sats for free, real UTXOs to a wallet only they control, free withdrawals anytime (minus network fee), separately tracked balances and performance for each fundraiser
To Gifters: arguably the most convenient way to directly gift someone UTXOs that doesn't require any Bitcoin knowledge
To Bitcoin: drives usage a medium of exchange, helps fill half-empty blocks, and increases fee competition to fight spam

We've been building this for a long time and have had to overcome quite a few challenges to make it work. We hope the community finds the service useful, and we would be honored to receive your feedback. Cheers.

said passkey

So fundmypiggy is a passkey wrapped onchain wallet in a browser with a UI gift/donation layer on top? Just checking if I read between all this text right.

reply

Yep. Web 2.0 wrapped around a thin Bitcoin layer (via third-party services).

Who is the third party?

Edit: these guys according to the faq https://dfns.co/

When you create a DFNS wallet, a complete private key is never generated. Instead, multiple secret “key shares” are created and stored on separate, independent servers. To sign a transaction, these servers collaborate using a cryptographic protocol that produces a valid signature without ever combining the shares or revealing a private key.

TEE+private federation

Mercuryo is our current fiat-to-crypto onramp, and DFNS is our wallet provider. We mention both in our FAQ and Terms, and Mercuryo can't be missed when making a purchase.
