I make Link posts and create Discussion posts when I have something I believe others might appreciate seeing.
I visit SN daily, because SN does a pretty great job of providing a shortlist of posts, most of which I should at last be aware of.
Ah! This is interesting. Some of my question was wondering whether people find the discussion on SN or the news aggregation function more valuable.

I'd hope that the conversations around here are worth having. That's why I'm disappointed when I look at the homepage and mostly see bitcoin posts.

Same reason. It's what attracted me here and what made me stay.
Also, I actually learn things on SN.
Buy why do you want to post where people are based? Is it to have based people help you increase your own based-ness (iron sharpens iron style)? Or is there some pleasure in knowing that other based people exist?
Basedness correlates with high IQ, and I try to avoid being the smartest person in the room.

interacting with non-based people is a frustrating and displeasurable task. interacting with based people is a refreshing and satisfying activity
Because it is special place. Some of the people here have seen some shit. It's good to get their input.
SN to me is a lot about the people I find here. They are normal, humble and intelligent and I feel elevated just by reading their opinions, and sometimes even exchanging with them on stuff...
Originally I came here to learn about Bitcoin, the experience is fun ( but it was MORE fun), I'm mainly posting to share what I've learned and learning more while sharing.
What did you enjoy about the more fun times?
The simplicity of SN back then and some really funny old stackers.
easy to zap sats and blog about my thoughts and passions.
I suck at writing and I wanted to improve my writing skills.
Plus I wanted to post about my hobbies, interests, and share my bitcoin experience for free. If I get zapped for my content great!
I also want to give more than I take. Everyone on the internet seems to be on the take I want to make fiat and give it back to the stackers!
I love lightning and this is one of the best applications using lightning to date

Thinking about using SN as a blog of sorts is fun. How did you scratch the itch before SN?

I think the first time I came to SN was indeed to get sats. It's not like they add up to huge quantities, but it sure is a good feeling.
It’s a small psychological reward for posting something you would think other stackers find valuable

I like to read longer form posts about things in Bitcoin, economics, and privacy tech.
I can find links to things like this on X, but it takes a lot more work.
But that's reading, not posting. I post here because I want to contribute to making a Bitcoin forum that is focused on freedom money ideals and serious about evaluating ways to make Bitcoin more useful.

I find it an interesting experiment, am willing to participate and contribute, and my better comments [and occasional posts] do get zapped enough by the community for me to also think of it as a gamble that, on some days, will almost certainly be more profitable than collecting funding fees in a bull market while waiting for a perpetual short's inevitable liquidation...

You are also confusing not wanting to interact with you specifically with not being willing to engage with your view point. Most of us gave you the benefit of the doubt and attempted to engage in good faith, until the repetitive responses exhausted our patience.
I am not referring to me when I say 'most here engage'- I am referring to the behavior of most people here as that I what I observe.

People can judge for themselves whether engagement is the norm or not.
If the quantity of sats/cc and replies someone generates is a true measure of engagement...
I consider for myself making people think, or even people blocking me out of fear and inability to engage in a reasoned thoughtful dialogue is better than arsemilking echo chamber virtue signalling 'engagement'. But that is just my own preference- not obviously the more common approach you find here on Stacker news. I am by my own acknowledgement somewhat an outlier.
So on the whole I still think most people here do engage to the extent they are capable with posts and comments- probably more than on other social media sites.
And so you were wrong to assert my initial statement as false because it is not false.
If anything imo, people here are too smarmy and polite and too often avoid a robust contest of ideas, by blocking or troll others calling them name and making false accusations against them.
