They aren't really thinking deeply. They have a negative aesthetic reaction, and they reach for reasons. It's not a deeply thought out analytical argument.

They aren't wrong that hooking fees up to user rewards causes some amount of mayhem or at least risk. If the cost of pay to post is important, we don't want to break it by giving refunds at the end of the day.

you'd get much less Den zapping (...of shitcoins, CCs...) unless there was a return of funds later.

Tho, to your point, I'd still gladly pay the ~7 sats to post and 100-ish sats to post.
