Hard to find words for something that does not exist. I agree "public service" is not the most appropriated one, but wanted to deliver the message in a commonly interpreted words.

At the moment yes, they are private. Should they stay like this? I don't think so, and I agree providing it for "good" is not the solution either. Especially housing and transport.

No, your problem is higher up in the analysis: there are no public services, you can't identify "key" domains that somehow need to be separated out from other provisions. The entire idea collapses, to speak Marxism, under its own contradictions

And if you did/what govts do today, you're stuck trying to ration access and figure out who carries the burden and how much.

That's because you are still seeing such as "public services" and that's why you can not see how it can be, not only separated out from other provisions, but fully independent, sustainable and autonomous. Check buurtzorg example, speak facts, not bs theories.

It's not bullshit.

They're a capitalist firm operating in a market. They're not providing care according to democratic needs or some socialist's well-informed value system. (An interesting experiment of worker-focused and flat org, but very much within rather than separate from capitalism)

People often confuse public service with community service. Is not the same.
I am telling you from my own (communist) past: anything that will come from a "public service" is not free and comes with a high price, much higher than any price you will pay directly to a private provider - your freedom.

Who is offering a public service will make people to DEPEND totally of that service, it's a TRAP.

This is, community service, voluntarly powered community services. Localized, without being tied to a nation state or other fictional entities. What aim to say is that there's a need to switch our common perception and models we currently know, to something that has not been defined yet. We can only by try, fail to do better. Capitalism, like communism, like democracism are all failed models.

For example, buurtzorg is a great example of community powered healthcare scalable model that has been expanding organically from northen Europe to Oceania in the past two decades. There are so many other examples.
