I was not familiar with the Nakamoto Project, but they apparently are running a series of full page ads about bitcoin in the WSJ.
The ads will feature articles from Bitcoin writers, with this one featuring Lyn Alden.
They reference a website: gettingbitcoin.org
The site doesn't do much for me, although it is smooth and has pretty nice design. I think it might do a good job of appealing to people who read the WSJ -- it's a different question whether that is a worthwhile goal (ie is driving a bunch of boomers to Bitcoin ETFs a good thing?).
Seems like they plan on publishing a series of articles this way. Upcoming features will include Alex Gladstein and Adam Back and Royah Mahboob, as well as a number of as yet unnamed authors.
The Nakamoto Project has released reports as early as 2024 (mentioned on SN in 2024 #737044) and more recently released a 2025 version, which I somehow managed not to read.
Looks like this is their staff:
Chat summarizes the Nakamoto Project's funding like this:
The Nakamoto Project was launched with $275,000 in privately contributed funds in 2023. It disclosed no other source of revenue and appears to have spent down that initial funding through 2024. The ultimate donor or donors are not identified in the publicly available IRS return or on the organization’s website.
Apparently, the donors are not public and it is not immediately obvious where the funding for this new campaign comes from.
Interesting. I was wondering who placed these ads.
"We're not going to explain the technical details" is not really a great start, imo. Even if I'm not interested in those details, I don't think I'd want to learn from someone who starts by telling me he isn't going to explain them.
I think that approach works better for the target audience than a "let's start with a primer on finite fields."
Also, there's an above average chance the last person trying to "orange pill" them left an impression akin to Charlie in the Pepe Silvia scene. Maybe they're trying to create that distance to reach them.
they would better say nothing, wrote a negative sentence could turn over all the aspect of the text for the reader, scared and suspicious normies/ nocoiners.
I get that. Still feels weird to me to lead with that, though.
I have always taken it seriously especially after watching Andreas Antonopoulos teach it.
