You should check out the old debates about link posts. Some people vigorously objected to allowing any commentary by the poster.

I think @k00b thought it would create too much friction. Back then all I wanted was a small comment box for a brief overview. We got more, and then @denlillaapan showed up and took it to another level.

I TOTALLY AGREE. When I see that sort of thing, my anti-Assmilker radar goes off.

I think: mate, couldn’t you have at least quoted something or done a copy-and-paste, if you didn’t have time to write something you’d thought up yourself?
