are Vibe Coding Tools in the Valley of Despair on thr Dunning-Kruger curve? what's next, what does the Slope of Enlightenment look like? it probably takes a lot of hard work and esoteric knowledge =);
maybe it involves thinking about code while out in nature, one with the birds and the trees and mu$hroom$?
All jokes aside, I'm seeing a lot of stories of sr. devs not being able to find work after being laid off lately. It's reminding me of the early 90s right after the 80s programming boom died off.
I wasn't a sr. dev until I retired. I think the issue is that every truth there used to be is now perceived to be false / irrelevant. And I truly mean every truth. I'm sitting on 90% of things I observe because the world at the moment is simply not open to hear it. I do both believe and hope (so maybe it is cope) that it comes back though. But now is not the moment to speak up.
The youth has to vibe their way into a truth of their own now. Downside of disruption.
erratumBut don’t you need a certain level of expertise to be able to prompt these AI tools and catch their mistakes properly?
In theory, yes, but in practice you just tell Claude Code to fix a vulnerability or resolve merge conflicts, then just click Yes until it's done.
ah I see. I now worry for my children’s future

It's hard being a Sr. dev because it's hard letting go.
I was never a sr. dev. I have no such co-dependency issues. Something about being a latchkey kid made me maladjusted.

This I understand very well. Sucks to be older, wiser and can't do anything with it.
Oh I'm still doing a lot with it. Just, my value did a
/150or so, and I generally don't share anymore.I was expecting a man sitting at a desk looking at a computer screen
