Microstory: (Ai Tong Prelim) Breaking a Bad Habit
“Simon, could you help me be the emcee for Teachers’ Day?” Mrs Goh asked me earnestly. To be honest, I was overwhelmed with a plethora of responsibilities, but I could not decline her request. This was my flaw: I had trouble saying no to people. I burnt the midnight oil, but I ended up failing my Weighted Assessment. That was when I knew I had to break my bad habit. I started to say no when I felt that my plate was filled to the brim. I learnt an important lesson about articulating my personal boundaries to the people around me.
