Several top US military officials have advised the country’s defense chief, Pete Hegseth, against continued large-scale operations against Iran, warning that it leaves the military stretched thin globally.
The warnings came from the heads of the army, navy, air force and commanders responsible for US forces in Europe, Asia and Latin America, according to The Washington Post.
The warning appeared in a regularly released classified report outlining US global military deployments. The senior officials filed a formal notice that they disagree with the deployment orders but will carry them out.
Ships, aircraft and equipment have been taken from those regions for the war on Iran, they say, leaving commanders less able to carry out missions and train their troops.
More than 50,000 US troops have been held on alert for months in case Trump orders new attacks on Iran, as he presses Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept US terms for ending the war.'
