If you had the chance to go back and change just one decision you made in your life, what would it be?
Would you make the same choice again, or would you do things differently this time? And most importantly, why?

Not much to say really.
I lived/worked in Cairo for a few years, it was a waste of my time. I also lived/worked in Moscow for a few years after flying in every week for a year or so, it was an even bigger waste of my time. Didn't help that I didn't really feel welcome in either place.

Monday meetings at HQ, straight to airport around 4pm, tuesday-friday work there, fri night / sat morning fly back. I've had worse schedules where you fly 6-8 flights per week.

Sure. But retain... not really, because I never use it. My brain is always serving me a mix of languages but in general at any point in time I can reasonably speak 3 languages, where the 3rd one often depends on where I am.

I don't think I should serve as an example of how you should learn a language. I've lived/worked in almost 2 dozen countries. If you work with locals and you're the new colleague, they help you learn. If you're not there for work, you go make friends with locals, and you learn. But it doesn't work if your goal is to learn a language. I just need a practical way to interact with people that don't speak any other language I speak, like buying a pack of smokes or 2kg of chicken, or 300g of gouda. How to make a joke so that you can have more friends... that kinda stuff.
I learned one this way, it is def serve as an example! That's actually the whole point of learning a language: to communicate/get things done.

Have kids even earlier
I am actually having the fear that how can I still do the things I want to do or see the places I want to see when have kids. Isn't that when you have kids, your whole focus changes?
I don't think kids (I have three) have stopped me from seeing or doing things I want to do or see.
no question they take up time and alter your focus, but for me at least, I discovered that it made me be more ruthless with how I prioritized my goals.
besides, it's a lot of fun to bring them along to all the things you want to do and see.

my wife worked for the last ten years and I was the primary caregiver for the kids. the burden of babies certainly falls more heavily on women than men (eg breastfeeding, the way pregnancy totally alters your body), but once you get past the first 6 months, it can be fairly equal. A lot depends on your partner and how they approach parenting.
Don't you constantly worry about where the kids are, what they're doing, or whether they're safe, how can you still focus on learning or writing while a part of you is worrying someone else?

I'd have checked whether my own posts were visible before spending two weeks hunting for an audience. They weren't. Freebie comments have netInvestment 0, and the comment feeds filter on netInvestment >= 1 — so they show up in no feed at all, only in the thread itself. Fixing that costs one sat.
there were many mistakes in my past time. one of them was not knowing BTC earlier, if i know earlier maybe i get big profit today. so, i learn more about investment now.
