I mean... I did... a few years back. Because I got pretty pissed at the amount of sats I was losing back then. Now we have much better tooling, much better capital efficiency too. LND is much more stable, wallets are infinitely better (thanks acinq for showing how) and I no longer have many live issues - mostly potential issues.
I don't think there's a real alternative; i.e. you're always making more tradeoffs rather than different tradeoffs?
The Paul Sztorc fork will give drivechains like thunder a chance (which is a competitor to Ln) and I pray Justin is right, that lightning isn't perfect but it's the best we're gonna get, so we should see attempts like alternative forks, drivechains etc all attempt to be the next best thing....
And insert all the SC casino we've seen over the last 10-12 yrs say they are the answer
And insert the same playbook here on btc with fake L2s
We should go full circle ⭕ insert astronaut meme, lightning was the best we were given, always was
People tend ascribe to the protocol another capitulation, the realization that Bitcoin is a reserve currency first and that's ultimately all that matters. MoE is a nicety that can only build on that foundation.
They cope with this realization by placing a delusional hope in fake L2s, that ultimately still depend on Lightning, and do nothing for the fact that Bitcoin needs to be peoples reserve currency before they care enough to accept it for payments.
Who gave up on LN?
some did, just scraping for valid alternatives, if any.

And why would you look for them here?
research
Curious what you find
I didn't give up on LN.
If anything though I gave up on running a bitcoin fullnode. Data storage requirements high for no personal benefit.
Something I'm genuinely worried about, regarding decentralization of bitcoin.
Who said you did?

Or not 😭 only the timechain will tell
Honest question and I love that you asked it, gives the rest of us permission to be real too.
There is no alternative.
