Yes, I would change my mind. I also don't think there's one correct map. An Africa centric map makes sense for talking about the early history of humanity.

The other better option is to put Southeast Asia in the center, since that's where most people live, and have Europe/Africa off to the left and the Americas off to the right.

I like your point but I also think this is quite bs. When if in future Africa become the epicentre of economic m activity, will you change if this map is the standard. 

FYI, the current standard is the Equal Earth Map.

I like polar views because most people and economic activity occurs in the Northern Hemisphere. You get a better sense of direction and how things move around, because it better shows which places are between others.

Putting Africa in the center is kind of strange, since it's fairly out of the way and irrelevant.
