As I argued earlier, I don't like downzapping as a solution. I'm not certain it's even effective. The "Streisand effect" may give a post even more attention than ignoring it or vigorously engaging the OP in a debate. Also, censorship isn't really possible when well funded whales on both sides have a tit for tat, as we have seen.

I agree it is a problem. I don't see a solution, except by ending this whole boosting craze completely. Let's go back to straight posting. Posts will get attention based on merit.

FWIW, I don't like downzapping as a solution either. At least not in the downzap war style with tons of sats wasted. In small amounts, i.e. giving your opinion with your standard zap up or down and done, I don't mind it so much. The wars are the painful thing.

I understand that. Now we have this situation where this nonsense is really getting attention because of the war. There is no obvious way out once you start the battle.

It was boosted to the first position on both posts before the first downzap though, so it was an ad to start with.

Which scammer burns 800k sats and counting on pitching a shitcoin on SN? That's what I cannot grasp.

Hopefully this is a one off

In the old system there were scammers too, just the ad space for boosts was 1 slot. They were harder to take down in terms of effort, but at a great cost advantage if the numbers were there.

That was always one of the things that made SN unique: iittle moderation.
