No worries. I did apologize for using your post. Just it's shitty when the rewards are compared to gambling sites. Because the point is to reward those that are zapping good content.

It can be "gamed", but the net result of that is that (good) content gets zaps. Thus, its not the same as gambling.

What's funny is that technically territory owners could but there's a lot of restraint and most territories have the option of moderation disabled.

Question: why do you think your posts got removed on the other platforms?

reply

tbh i think those are all fiat-controlled media and they don't want people to discuss about unit bias and hyperbitcoinization.

reply

This makes total sense in a not your printer, not your coin kind of way. Fiat maxis love their printer too. Emphasis their.

Moderation is not anymore an option territory founders decide to enable. Has been disabled, same for freebies.

reply

Good catch! I didn't notice!!!

How did you hear about SN? You've certainly grasped the value proposition, which is more than I can say for most of the rest of the internet.

reply

i tried a few places:

posted on bitcointalk, mods let my post live for about 2 days before taking it down. quite disappointed.

posted on the bitcoin subreddit, they just deleted it immediately. that place seems to be heavily policed by fiat banksters and "crypto" scammers.

paid EIN Presswire, they took my money and then deleted my account.

my homie Dende then suggested SN. seems like this is the only place that doesn't delete my post. so i'm thankful.

reply
79 sats \ 3 replies \ @Scoresby 18h

I've had similar experiences in those places.

But I'm curious what you are aiming to achieve. Most bitcoiners are not likely to be sympathetic to you project, perhaps especially so here where many normally "accepted" Bitcoin projects like Spark, ecash, and Ark receive strong criticism.

What's your goal in posting about your project in a place where most users will not be open to it?

reply

thank you for your question. tbh i'm just trying to not be shadowbanned and find some open minded bitcoiners out there who have time to read long essays and discuss hyperbitcoinization.

some of my friends avoid talking to me ever since i started working on this. most normies think i'm scamming them for financial gains, but i'm not (i sent most of my nahs to Satoshi Nakamoto and some other team members who helped me put this project together). but that's not a problem. i been trying to talk to people about bitcoin for more than a decade so i'm used to people saying i'm scamming them. what i dislike is the silence i have received from my other friends who are real bitcoiners, and the shadowbanning i got from places that are supposed to be against censorship.

to me, strong constructive criticism is a lot better than silence and shadowbanning. so far i've gotten some real feedback here so that is awesome. my job is simply to get the word out, to get people to talk about unit bias and hyperbitcoinization.

from my point of view, this nah•sovereign•diamond project is the only path to hyperbitcoinization (especially since fiat controlled media have been trying to shadowban it). i know that sounds absurd to a lot of people, and even to myself sometimes. maybe i'm just trying to find one person who can critically explain to me why my team and myself are wrong so we can stop wasting our lives on this?

and if i can't find a real reason to convince myself to stop pushing this, i have no other choice but to continue.

or maybe i'm trying to push Satoshi Nakamoto to come back. maybe he's been lurking around SN and seeing my post. because if he does not sell the nahs i sent him, nah will continue to outperform sat, attracting more bitcoiners, and the unit of account of the bitcoin timechain will become the thing i'm working on.

maybe i'm not wasting my time and money after all (trust me i hate zap wars too but if it has to be done then it will be done). if i can help make peer to peer electronic cash a reality for everyone, it'd be a crime if i allow myself to stop.

of course, 99.99% of stacker news users will initially doubt. but if we got lucky and find just one or two stackers who take the time to research and contribute into this project, then the zap war would have produced a good outcome.

Took a Cybercab into work today. The doors are neat. It's a coupe so it's inconveniently low to the ground. Also like most Tesla interiors it feels cheap. Not having a steering wheel is cool but not that big of a deal. Most of the wow of self-driving is in the self-driving part - not the packaging. It reminds me of AI startups not building their own models. My pig has pink lipstick. Woooowww, right?

reply

what makes you say that?

reply

I don't understand why they would drag it out like this.

Why not ask Blockstream to provide an address and send the btc to that address.

It feels to me like they are drawing it out.

For instance, why did they initially say they were sending funds back to the original address and then after Block stream confirmed, say well, you need to fix first. Why not lead with fix the bug? There are extra rounds of communication here.

Does it read differently to you?

reply

They took responsibility for 4k BTC. If they release it back while there is still a vuln, all is for nothing, then someone else will take it. I am mostly not sure about having a public non-encrypted part in this. I'd personally just encrypt it all. Can always be disclosed later.

reply

But couldn't they ask blockstream to provide a clean BTC address, not necessarily the liquid federation wallet and return funds to that?

I see the argument that they took responsibility for coins, but it is not good to leave the uncertainty there.

reply

The coin doesn't belong to Blockstream! It belongs to the LBTC holders and it is custodied by the federation. Under no circumstance should anyone but the federation that custodies it touch the coin.

Please realize how much value 4k BTC is. If NgU stays true, it is more concentrated value that for most of us, our entire lineage back to the stone age have ever touched. Massive responsibility. Also massive liability if you have access to it.

I think that this is proper. Just the public comms aren't per se.

Under no circumstance should anyone but the federation that custodies it touch the coin.

If there is an exception made for the whitehat (ie they were worried that someone else might steal the coins, so they didn't follow normal responsible disclosure, nor even seemingly reach out to blockstream other than in the moment they took the funds), then why not send it to Blockstream? If the choice is between an anon and a company with a decade-long reputation, it doesn't seem clear-cut to me that the anon is better. I like anons but I also see the value of Blockstream not wanting to torch their entire business.

If the person/group who did this really does return the funds, they will rank high in my book for integrity.

reply

The alleged (because we don't know yet) "whitehat" is still a hacker and what they did is illegal in most jurisdictions. So they're taking a huge risk. They should not take a bounty from anything but Adam's personal dark pool of undoxxed BTC because if they take anything from a federation member they'll be doxxed and traceable. And if they used any Chinese AI tech at all, there will be an entire US justice dept full of hardons to prosecute and make an example out of them. So they better be in China or Russia too.

Nah this is super dangerous and even a 100% honest hacker can get completely destroyed over this. Hopefully you'll never have anyone to assign that rank to.

reply
1338 sats \ 2 replies \ @optimism 7 Sep

And then you have to secure your own LND. See the problem here? We can all "told you so" about Blockstream and be a bunch of grave dancing bitches, but LND too had bugfixes publicly sitting in an RC for a couple of days (Aug 30 - Sep 2) (significant less time than it took on Elements though) and this problem is wide. It literally touches every serious open source project.

It is also possible for this to happen on Bitcoin Core now, as there's a systematic pattern of bugfixes sitting inside unreleased commits too. I cannot help but feel that we need to think about release processes as a community, and this is not a problem that only applies to the enemies of Justin. It applies to us all.
