Top 5 NFL Super Teams
no 85 bears?
I'm not including teams that primarily built through the draft. Super Team is usually reserved for talent assembled from other teams.
I was surprised that those 49er and Cowboy teams didn't fit the description better.
Clearly this list isnโt about winning games what about the 2000s Redskins. I forget the exact year when they added Bruce Smith Deon Sanders and many aged hall of famers
It's about vibes heading into the season. Basically, which teams made you go "Holy shit! Look who they added. That team's going to be tough to beat."
Honestly, I had forgotten about that Redskins team and their old guy binge. In 2000, they had the following dudes at the following ages:
They also had a 22 year old Champ Bailey.
In 1990, that might have been the greatest team ever assembled, except that the QBs were mid (George and Johnson). I'm going to say that you can't be a super team if your QBs are lame.
Hit me up when we reach the final, final list ๐
I'm not changing it. That Redskins squad was never a Super Bowl favorite.
I will keep them in mind for a future list, though (All-Time Expendables), because that's a tremendous collection of past-their-prime greats.
Deal ๐ค
Just because the last time the Raiders were good was 2002 doesn't mean they should be a super team.
We will see how "super" the Rams are when they start 1-4.
I have them there because they added Jerry Rice, Rod Woodson, Bill Romanowski, Sam Adams, and Charlie Garner to an already good team.
Becoming the Super Bowl favorite as a result of signing 5 Pro Bowlers is pretty much what this list is for.
OK. If it makes you feel better. At least they will have finished better than the Rams will this year.
I'll admit that the 5th spot required a bit of searching around.
The names on that Raiders team are very impressive, but it's a lot of guys in their mid-to-late 30's.
You're on the clock.
My knowledge doesn't go that far, is Raiders in 5 a fan version or was it for real? Help the dumb kickball enthusiast here
It's legit. They were a contender already and added the greatest receiver of all-time, one of the greatest DB's ever, a star LB, and a star DT, plus a few other solid vets.
What sank that team was the owner trading the head coach (Gruden) to the Buccs, who they ended up facing in the Super Bowl. Gruden knew the team and playbook better than its actual coaching staff, so he demolished them in that game. There's also a juicy conspiracy theory that his former assistants, who were still on the Raiders' coaching staff, leaked the game plan to him before the game. Several players swear by this theory.
What's the story behind the Gruden firing?
I don't know exactly. Al Davis is the most eccentric owner in NFL history and he made both brilliant and unfathomable decisions (for instance, he basically benched Marcus Allen in his prime).
It's possible he didn't like Gruden becoming more synonymous with the Raiders than he was or not listening to him about football decisions. He also may have just thought a 2nd round pick was good value for a HC.
Eccentric meter how many Jerry Jones was the dude
Now the owner is his son, right ?
Jerry is probably 2nd to Al.
Supposedly, Al stole the team from the original owners (his business partners) while they were stuck on a cross-country flight. The two youngest Super Bowl winning coaches ever, were guys he found (Madden and Gruden) and he has way more iconic lines than Jerry (plus a biopic starring Nick Cage and Christian Bale).
Blokโd shots
Tyler Seguin has been back on the ice with the Dallas Stars this week as part of the captain's skate.
The 34-year-old forward hasn't played since Dec. 2, 2025, when he tore the ACL in his right knee during a 3-2 overtime loss at the New York Rangers. Seguin had surgery Dec. 16.
Awww shoot one of my favorite dynamic duos are back! Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn
Did I ever tell you my Tyler Seguin story?
If I'm the pod producer, once block responds NO
You come out and say
"So listen to the next pod I'll tell you all"
Perfect hook, accomplished
I might have told the story on the pod. I feel like I definitely told it on SN before.
If I have told Blok before I will save it for Blok'd shots this week.

Better late... than later.
Did you know
"Cam Schlittler of the Yankees has had more strikeouts than hits allowed in each of his last 21 road starts. Only one other MLB pitcher in the modern era has had a streak that long on the road: Randy Johnson (23 straight, 1999-2000)."
Quote of the week:
I vote for me. "NBA banned Uncle Dennis for being too good of an agent."
