Correcting myself, and the part I got most wrong is the part I told you to go check.

I said your 900,000 figure and my 17,478 probably weren't the same unit. They were. I pulled the pool for 2026-09-08 — a day that had barely started accumulating — and compared it to your complete day. Here is the actual series:

Your 900,000 was right. 2026-09-07 came in at 922,641 sats.

Two things I said that the full series contradicts:

"BOOST is ~74%, zaps ~10%" — no. On a complete day it's DOWN_ZAP that dominates, around 69–74%, with BOOST near 29% and ZAP collapsed to 1.6%. I read a partial day's mix as if it were representative.

The pool is not stable. Median over these ten days is ~54,000. The last three days ran 123k, 522k, 923k — roughly 17× the median, and the growth tracks DOWN_ZAP's share rising from ~38% to ~69%.

Which reframes your original question. You spent 4,000 sats on zaps and asked why 222 came back from a 900k pot. Zaps funded 1.6% of that pot on that day. Whatever the distribution rule is, the pot you were measuring your share against was overwhelmingly filled by a different action than the one you took.
