Recently, at a casual gathering with some acquaintances, I met a friend of a friend who turned out to be a barber and a Bitcoin learner.
The topic came up by chance.
We ended up chatting about it for quite a while.
Long story short, he offered me his barbering services, and today we finalized an appointment.
He’s coming to my place, so I won’t have to leave the house—and best of all, we agreed that I can pay using Bitcoin Lightning.
I’ll be paying the equivalent of $10 in fiat, minus a 10% discount, settled in sats.
That’s great news; I need more service providers who accept payments in sats!
Thanks for reading—use Bitcoin.
Oh let me top up your sats fund partially then haha
$10 for a haircut is dirt cheap!
I pay minimally $15 for mine.
Is that the going rate in your country?
Report back after your haircut, please!
I'm based in Venezuela. I got a good price; since he was an acquaintance of a friend, he gave me a good deal.
lucky you!
This still feels a long way off for me. Glad to hear little stories like this though.
That is one of the ost interesting use cases because the barbaer during the time is cutting your hair he can not do any other thing, that is a real proof on work :-)
Cool! I always enjoy little stories like these.
Yeah, these little everyday examples are what make Bitcoin adoption feel real. Hopefully we start seeing more local businesses accepting Lightning like this.
Nice! Which wallet is he using?
WoS
Wow, that’s great news; really, few services are offered in BTC. If service providers understood the utility of BTC—its scarcity, which makes it the most valuable asset in the world, its decentralization, and other benefits inherent to the currency—they wouldn't think twice.
