The last resident of Favela do Moinho left the community on Tuesday (15), bringing an end to a decades-long chapter in the center of São Paulo, Brazil.

Manuel Severino Silva dos Santos, a 53-year-old doorman, had lived there for at least 20 years. He remained almost completely alone, surrounded by demolished houses and rubble, while waiting for a decision about his housing situation.
