Some time ago while playing Pokémon GO I made a small app to save my Pokémon and compare them for battles. I left the project unfinished and honestly forgot about it. Today. Or technically yesterday because it is already night here. I was looking for another file on my computer and found the project by accident. I opened it just to see why I had stopped working on it. Then I added one thing. Then another. After that I kept going and finally finished it. You can now add your Pokémon and edit your records and delete them when needed. I also tried to make it work well on both desktop and mobile. It is still a small personal project and I am sure there are things I can improve.

If you still play Pokémon GO and want to try it you can find it here:

If you find something broken or confusing or have an idea for the project I would like to hear it.

👁 How Pokemon-chasing children were fooled into building Pentagon's next-gen drone eye

For nine years, Pokemon Go urged children and parents to go outside with their cameras to hunt down virtual creatures through the real world.
Scanning streets and parks in seemingly harmless fun, the players were in reality data mining – unwittingly building up a vast dataset, per Dutch daily Trouw.

➡️ Roughly 30 billion scans were handed over to US software development company and the video game developer Niantic, allowing it to quietly build a 3D model of the physical world

➡️ Players surrendered street-level scans of public and private spaces, interior footage of homes, and biometric-adjacent information from camera angles

➡️ The game's terms gave Niantic a transferable, sublicensable license for submitted content - every scan could be resold and repurposed without further consent

➡️ These scans helped train Niantic’s Visual Positioning System (VPS)

➡️ Where GPS fails, VPS matches what a camera sees against a 3D model of the world, and two recognizable reference points can fix a position – well-suited for autonomous drones operating beyond satellite reach

The corporate lineage fits the playbook:

♦️ Niantic founder John Hanke served in the US Foreign Service before co-founding Keyhole, named after America’s KH spy satellites

♦️ When it neared collapse, In-Q-Tel - the CIA’s venture arm - and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency money kept it alive so the tech could “support United States troops in Iraq”

♦️ Google bought Keyhole, turned it into Google Earth, and spun Niantic out in 2015 - Pokemon Go arrived a year later

♦️ In 2025, the company split: the game part was sold to Scopely (Saudi-backed) for $3.5 billion while the mapping tech stayed with Niantic Spatial

♦️ That tech then partnered with Vantor - the rebranded Maxar Intelligence, a major NGA contractor serving defense and intelligence clients

♦️ Vantor is the US intel engine behind Volodymyr Zelensky’s drone campaign against Russia

♦️ The Niantic Spatial - Vantor partnership plans to combine Niantic's ground-based Visual Positioning System with Vantor's aerial positioning software, allowing air and ground systems to share coordinates without satellite signals

Now that technology is being polished, packaged, and handed to Pentagon-linked partners so drones can keep flying when GPS is jammed, spoofed, or simply nonexistent.
The companies insist no raw game data ever takes flight on drones. But once that training data is distilled into patterns, the original contributions become impossible to trace - or claw back.

Finding an old project and actually finishing it later is such a good feeling. Nice work!
