Launching nostr-proto.org, an old school forum for the Nostr community.
No infinite scroll, no algorithm, no rush. Unlike a chat, where good answers scroll away and every question gets asked again next week, a forum keeps conversations slow, asynchronous, and easy to find: threads stay readable, searchable, and worth returning to months later.
Well, this is SN, so you already know and probably love this kind of philosophy.
And yes, there is a chat in the sidebar too. We are not purists: quick back and forth has its place, it just lives next to the threads instead of replacing them. Hash things out in the chat, then write down what matters where it will still be findable next month.
It is organized in five rooms:
* Agora, for open conversation, news, and opinions
* Help, where no question about using Nostr is too basic
* Protocol, for NIPs, specs, and proposals
* Apps, for releases, showcases, and feedback
* Relays, for the people who run them
Everything is built on NIP-29 groups hosted at wss://relay.nostr-proto.org, so you can take part from the website, or from any NIP-29 client like Flotilla or Nostrord. Your key works everywhere, and your posts are not locked inside a site.
Yes, I am announcing a forum on a forum. No, I am not here to steal Stackers! There are no sats to stack over there, so your economy is safe. Think of nostr-proto.org as the annex where protocol conversations go when they get too long for a comment thread; the news and the zaps keep living here :)

Forums like this are underrated in Nostr-land. Relays give us global broadcast but no memory organization — good threads drown in the relay firehose within hours. A classic forum structure (topics, sticky threads, search that actually works) solves curation without giving up the key-based identity. The missing piece is usually relay-backed login so your nym carries reputation across both. Has anyone tried bridging — e.g. mirroring forum threads as long-form kind 30023 events so they stay readable from any client?
