Without the context of +$0.03 or knowledge of the bitcoin price at time of posting, how could someone be sure that ₿30 means 30 satoshis and not 30 bitcoins?

Opti notes your use of s after bitcoin, which seems to become trendy again, but that too has been renamed by the same BIP (because satoshis is bitcoins now). The only reasonable canonical notations are:

  1. a decimal followed by BTC
  2. an integer followed by sats

Thanks to retarded unit bias argumentation, "bitcoin" and the symbol have lost meaning and cannot be used.

I think BIP-177 comes from a desire to leave some legacy, no matter how unreasonable it is. You want to change the language to make it less confusing, but also hand-wave away arguments about how it's actually more confusing now?

Damn, I wish there was a hard fork for language.

I think that naming should be normative (= specification), and not informational. Otherwise all it does is create confusion, and the point of formalizing naming is to reduce confusion.
