I homeschool our two elementary-aged daughters while our 4 year old attends a morning preschool (we feel like his age is important for socialized learning then he’ll join us at home for kindergarten next year).

I selected different curriculum for each subject based on content and model. I prepare for each week over the weekend to keep my school days focused on teaching and engaging with them.

To answer your question:
We attend a co-op program all day on Mondays allowing the girls to learn in a group setting from other adults while I teach an older cohort.
Then Tuesday to Friday we school at home usually just 9-12:30 (if they remain focused and diligent). Afternoons are open for music lessons, play dates, and a fun group that focuses on outdoor skills and activities.

If one of them has had difficulty completing their tasks due to lack of focus or if their assignments were particularly challenging either I or my husband will set aside some time in the evening or weekend to help them catch up. (I’ll be helping with multi-digit multiplication algorithms this afternoon with my eldest.)

As far as sustaining energy each day… I certainly am tired at the end of days. The more open afternoons do help and I make sure to get some quiet time while the kids play with each other or are at their afternoon activities…

another power-packed comment again.
I think your comment reveals a tendency Singaporeans have - being results-oriented, we will pack every minute of the day with learning learning and more learning. just reading that you keep your daughters’ afternoons free for other pursuits sounds incredibly liberating
