By now you're probably aware of the legislation being fast-tracked through the U.S. Senate called the RESTRICT Act - S.686 supposedly intended to allow for the banning of TikTok and protect us from foreign cyber threats.
Learn more about RESTRICT and how it could threaten Bitcoin as well as your freedom to access information writ large here, here or here.

If you live in the U.S. please consider writing to your Senators (you have two of them) and voice your opposition. Find your Senators' contact info here. You can either copy & paste my letter (below), or draft something a bit more strongly worded on your own. Up to you.

Dear Senator [ ENTER YOUR SENATOR'S LAST NAME ],
I cannot support the proposed Senate Bill S.686 (RESTRICT Act). It is far too broadly worded and as a result I believe it will have unforeseen negative consequences for freedom of speech and access to information.
Any proposed legislation intended to protect The United States and/or its citizens from foreign “Security Threats” (cyber or otherwise) should not impede the freedoms of law-abiding citizens.
The act of accessing information via a website, digital application or any other communication platform should never be considered ‘illegal’ or criminal.
If there are specific threats from specific foreign actors, I believe these should be explicitly identified within the text of this legislation.
Additionally, I believe Congress should be the only entity with the authority to approve mitigating measures against threats to homeland security. These powers should never be delegated away to unelected officials such as the Secretary of Commerce.
I respectfully ask that you reconsider the framing of this legislation.
Sincerely, [ YOUR FULL NAME ]
Anyone thinking this doesn’t matter is sorely mistaken. This law is dangerous.
Copy and paste this to your senators now and leave a voicemail at their offices (they do not usually answer calls live so just a quick recording on the phone.
If the USA completely falls to tyranny this is going to be a much worse century for our children.

This stuff happening at the same time as Bukele passing legislation to stimulate tech enterprise in El Salvador, while multiple countries move away from Dollars a year on from Russia's foreign reserves being sanctioned, and US and Euro banks publicly fail, really shows the acceleration/intensification of the shift that's occurring - the desperation of the US Govt is palpable in these deranged proposals - it's got a real 'The harder they grasp, the more it slips through their fingers' feel to it.

Thanks! I been meaning to get to this. If you think ignoring politics will lead to bitcoin bliss you are sadly mistaken. Make your voice heard!

This proposed legislation is so outrageous that it doesn't worry me.
I tend to worry more about the moderate proposals, because they don't get so much pushback (boiling frog theory).
reply
I worry about them all. I'll probably die young.

Thanks for Your work, that's really important! But don't lose Your sleep over this clown show. It will be falling apart sooner than they can imagine with their half functioning brain cell.
reply
Thank you! I sleep well at night... Bitcoin is my security blanket.

!!! That's what I wanted to hear. Nice dreams from MĂĄlaga where we have Semana Santa now which is really worth a journey:

Well written.

Thank you!

Thank YOU. Freedom is lost slowly, then suddenly.

This is so lame and useless. You stop tyranny not with letter to politicians, but being yourself a sovereign individual and NOT a shitizen, voting and writing letter.
Simply use Bitcoin wherever you can as money and don't use fiat. Fiat is their power. Bitcoin is their enemy

Darth doesn’t live in the US. We in the states are on the frontlines
reply
You guys in US are such pussies obeying useless so called laws.
Writing letters to politicians is like crying kids because they were grounded.
BE A FUCKING GROWN UP ADULT AND STOP CRYING LIKE A BABY.
reply
That's cool. But down here on earth, we need to do everything within our power, including using bitcoin AND communicating our beliefs with words/letters/emails.
reply
good luck fooling yourself with those useless letters. Politicians will have a good laugh reading them.
reply
Joke's on you. Politicians don't read. We flood their inboxes instead.
reply
So it's even more useless, just waste.
It's sweet that someone thinks they are listening and like elections matter.
