It is really easy. You can put it into tablets and swallow, but I prefer to make it into a beverage and add maple syrup.

It is excellent for when you have a cold/flu virus, or staving one off.

While I have harvested both of these ingredients before, I'm not residing in a place where it is accessible. The chaga I have ordered from a trusted supplier. I plan on foraging again soon, though.

This chaga came off a silver birch tree in Canada. The outside looks rough and black, but the flesh inside is the closer to the colour of bitcoin. They take about 5-10 years to form. If you have silver birch trees, you can inoculate them yourself. It will kill the tree, while extracting its medicinal nutrients. If you live in a region with these trees, you will know already that they are special.

Grind it, as fine as you can.

Bring water to a boil first, and then reduce temp to about 80C - 85C. Think of it like green tea, it will scald if it gets too hot. Add your chaga and steep for 5-10 minutes. For about 2 cups of water, I added 2 tsp of finely ground chaga. You can experiment with these ratios. You want a robust, dark-coloured liquid, like coffee or black tea.

Add maple syrup and a shot of espresso. Enjoy.

I recommend trying to sustainably source your own chaga. It can be found a dying silver birch. Winter foraging makes it easier to spot them in leafless branches.

I have lots, and I'd be happy to put some in the mail if you want to try it for yourself.

Learning the local mushrooms is something I need to do, as is cultivating some at my house.

I forgot to mention to dyor if supplimenting for health. There have been reports of excessive chaga use causing kidney stones. I've been ok using a few teaspoons per day, a few times per week, during cold and flu season.

I think the lady who got stones had >7tsp/day for several months.

Kidney stones have a bunch of different risk factors, but it’s not too hard to assess if you’re at risk.

Maple syrup cuts the bitterness well, like honey in my winter tea. How do you measure the sap yield per birch?

It's incredible that you can forage chaga in your area, legend! Is it only available at specific times of the year?

Were you able to pay your trusted supplier in sats? If not, would you consider using a proxy for your next order?

The supplier isn't interested in accepting bitcoin.
