I spent five hours yesterday exploring Lightning wallets after facing a challenge connecting an external wallet to Nostr applications through NWC.
I started with eCash but ended up disappointed because it couldn't create invoices. I switched to Cashu, only to experience the same problem. However, when I switched to Minibits, I finally achieved what I had been looking for!
I must say, none of this would have been possible without the testing features on Stacker News. A big thank-you to the Stacker News team for providing such a cool feature!
What Lightning wallet do you consider the best, and why? ⚡️

woah, now we're getting serious
borrowing knowledge from external third party
Minibits is not on this list. But some of these LN wallets have no good features for Nostr NWC.
Never had any issue with @adam_coinos_io , @rizful_com or @arcbtc
What's the nostr app you trying to connect with NWC?
Amethyst, Zapstore, and Nostr Vault
In Amethyst you could try connecting @justin_shocknet's ShockWallet.app via
CLINKwhich I highly recommend.Thank you for providing this. Now I can see the difference between minibits and shock wallet. My questions are: 1 can I create a new wallet or use signer remote to link my nostr accounts? 2. Is the NWC options?
You simply need to sign in with your existing nostr keys. There's no need to create a new one, although you aim to keep things separate
CLINK is an alternative protocol to NWC so ShockWallet does not provide the NWC string
The best lessons are taught by trying and failing. The most comfortable option is not always the better. Try yourself and evaluate what works for you and keep in mind there are always alternatives, no obligation to use just one app.
Thank you. I like to keep things separate. Your second answer is a little bit confusing. Does that means CLINK is what shock wallet offers in place of NWC?
Nos
I'm afraid you did not find what you are looking for: Minibits is an ecash wallet, not a Lightning wallet.
Ecash mints are custodians, just like bank accounts. Lightning is not custodial, users hold their own private keys and presigned transactions for their channels.
Really? But why's it listed amongst lightning wallet? Thank you for your response. I will add it to what I have learnt so far.
They want to claim Lightning's good reputation, so they intentionally misrepresent the ln invoice send/receive capability of their banking app as being a "Lightning Wallet".
none of those are Lightning wallets (= they're ecash), what are you talking about?
To be honest. I still have a lot to learn here. Yeah someone has corrected me on that. So lightning wallets are Zeus, Alby, WOS, right?
yup. Phoenix, too, in moving away somewhat from custodial to self-sovereign/self-custodial
Thank you. I am enlightened.
