My guess is that those recent shenanigans are probably influenced by their involvement in the banking and financial sector with Apple Pay. They must probably obey some dumb rules or regulations dictated by this industry.

So essentially Apple phones are useless for any no-KYC bitcoin or LN tools. They're shooting themselves in the foot, just like Ledger did.
