This reminds me of those offensive popups on websites that ask you along the lines of "Allow notifications?" and the only possible answers are "yes" and "later", when the answer I want to give is "no, never".

Also well known to former users of McAfee security software: Forever more getting popups to renew subscription now or later.

Excuse my weak english its not my native language, Things are simpler than that.

Couldn't find the app on F-droid

reply

Did try for the sake of experience but I wouldn't consider to be much working since the most audience on insta are for visual dopamine like through photos and reels and something like thread which involves readings, it is not their cup of tea IMO.

Also controversies would be certainly restricted with bad words is not going to make it anything special. Nostr is way better if you aren't a certain "algorithmic" content addict.

lol no. of course not

I personally do not have the slightest intention of going to that application. I prefer to interact socially on Nostr clients⚡.

I thought it could have been an interesting discussion how Meta tweaks their algorithm, how it might shape society if Threads succeeds and only one huge monopoly company basically controlls all social media, what the consequences are of them being app-only and didn't have link-sharing at the time etc.

I even put a whole first paragraph on Meta being a anti-privacy company and how I use it only with an "empty" profile for having a look at it. But people were still only shitting on me for even trying it. That wasn't fun and wasn't the thing I wanted to talk about. So I deleted it. Very frustrating.

reply

please don't take it personally

meta is a technology company and your content / network graph is only one part of it. as soon as you sign up, your browser is fingerprinted, cookies are set, typing speed analysed, and your usage behaviours tracked across the internet in ways that are difficult to avoid

facebook is a weapon against free society

I would encourage any readers to also watch The Social Dilemma to understand how billionaires use it to influence elections

Ewww stop spamming me fake astro-turfed beefs between billionaire lizard people, tyvm

I've used Threads has been around on the Hive blockchain since August 2022.

Yes, it's different from Meta's Threads which just came out. LeoThreads is like Nostr in that it is web3, Meta's is...not web3. This is an example of name confusion that Hive suffers from. No, no plans for me to use Meta's Threads. Yes, I've used Hive's/Leo's Threads.

No, and I am not planning to.

I have an even better question:

Have you discovered the benefits of Sodium Cyanide? All your problems can be solved by one measly speck of this wonderous salt. Also comes in a family pack.

reply

Would've been a better troll if you had posted in the Nostr section.

reply

Tried it and deleted it shortly after. Not having zaps feels mid and so does not having a following page. I like how at least on Twitter I can choose to use the algo vs just who I follow

Threads has not been released in Europe (yet?). Don't you think that this move is rather strange for a Meta product?

You misstyped Nostr

reply

Twitter —> SN/Nostr is the proper migration, not Threads

reply

Still moving to nostr.

reply

Fuck no.

No way

I don't have such plans at all.

Never will, we already have other alternatives like Nostr.
