Maybe it's a little too old for most of you all here, but the network defence systems described in William Gibson's Sprawl books should make anyone wary to get a device that puts them at risk of remote sending of signals that trigger a nervous system shutdown and death.
Anyone above ground with one of these in their head during a Carrington Event is going to probably at least have severe brain damage, if it doesn't outright kill them.
That doesn't even include the issue of the government getting a golden key to send signals into your neuralink. Spying on your literal thoughts, and reconstructing recorded thoughts to hypnotise you remotely while thinking it's your own voice. Anyone who hasn't tampered with their own consciousness already yet in other ways really has no idea how dangerous this is.

Very good point

I'm excited about extending human capacity, but I'm afraid of the hopelessness of securing the tech.
reply
Human capacity is already extended, but people are retarded and not use it... Usually a human brain is used only 10 % of its capacity, nowadays. We can do much better with training. WE DO NOT NEED MACHINES FOR THAT..
reply
The 10% thing is long disproved cap and just plain wrong framing. Your brain is obviously being used all the time, just most of it are sub/unconscious functions like heartbeat control, regulation of bodily functions, mental processes etc. If it was running at 10% capacity you would die within minutes. There is no proof of this 90% big brain potential having been unlocked. Which is why I voted for getting plugged, of course.

Good luck being a vegetable.

Pretty sure that's the term for people with 10% brain capacity, which is what you described yourself in your post lol. Are you posting from an ICU again, Darth?

I'm a cyborg remember?

I found the perfect candidates for that neuralink

imho, a very very bad idea. one doesn't change the perfect design of the human body, by implanting chips.
this may not be a popular opinion here, but it is authentically my own.
