That's a good idea for a portion of the homeless population, mainly the working poor. For others it might be best to focus on basic needs first.

I highly doubt it, being breadline poor you have to be high time preference and the opportunity cost of riding vol is not going to fly, you either need savings to buffer or reliable cash flow and that's not a given

If BTC is generating working opportunities like people who can earn an income from remittance they couldn't otherwise get, trade labour or commodities for Bitcoin, sure that's a different story

I think Bitcoin was largely middle class driven for the most part and now its absorbing more rich people and redistributing income to those early adoptors who consume now or create businesses both which trickle down to the working poor

In what world is Bitcoin more important than shelter?

Many (dare I say, real) homeless people (not the people who decide they can't be bothered to work or consciously take the decision to be homeless to stack sats or some other random reason), are worried about very different and immediate basic needs (lack of love and attention, food and a warm shelter where police won't come harass them, and in many cases their addictions).

Most of us in Latin America have seen more than enough of that for a few lifetimes.

Bitcoin doesn't really satisfy any of those needs well. It's incredibly hard to convince your Ivy-league-school friend, or your debt-burdened neighbor who is being profited from by central bankers. Poor or homeless people's lives are usually worsened (not magically transformed) by winning the lottery.

Because there is a huge opportunity cost for them

There was one customer in a previous job who was "homeless" and living in his car. He was basically buying BTC to send to online casinos and would cash out his winnings.
