(fill in the blank)

I suspect they don't fully appreciate how many businesses they harm or prevent from starting with the increasing hodgepodge of reporting and regulation requirements.

I'd really like to see very minimal regulation and reporting for businesses below a certain size. If we are going to have all this burdensome regulation stuff, it'd be nice for it to be progressively structured.

reply

This is one large reason I’ve not started my own business. Too much paperwork and process to sort through

reply

It definitely sucks. The worst part is your never really certain you’ve done enough of it. You end up having to trust other people to do it for you but then you’re liable for their potential incompetence.

It’s such a shit show. It’s all the ridiculousness an individual might experience with something like personal taxes times ten.

I suspect this is why business owners tend to lean right economically.

reply

Yep, this is pretty much exactly what I expected. Never getting the explicit checkmark of approval that says you're good to go. Having to bring in "experts" to make sure your bases are covered, yet still being the one to take the fall if something goes wrong.

Personal taxes are already a mess, I can't imagine having to deal with 10x.

reply

And filing a tax return is even more frustrating as a business.

reply

I don't think they care. As long as their donors are happy and their voters will vote for them they don't seem to care.

reply

I know. So lame.

reply

Right, it’s just a numbers game for them, no humanity attached

reply

They get this but pretend to be ignorant. They have more in common with each other than they do with voters and plebs like us. They dont work for us. They work for the power elite. They dont represent us. They represent their overlords. Those that fund and control them. We have this collective delusion that because "we" elect them that they work for us. I dont vote and it makes no difference. I'm just as much under their boot as the loyal supporter.

reply

Most don't comprehend the free market. I'm tempted to say they don't understand incentives but they clearly do. They base taxation and regulations on removing incentives they dont like. Then they act shocked when there are consequences they didnt expect.

reply

none of us alive today have ever lived with a free market, how are we expected to?

Politicians take advantage of that lack of knowledge

reply

No need to fill in the blank. The sentence already makes perfect sense. :)

That regular people go to jail for their crimes

reply

Oh they comprehend that all too well ;)

reply

How unessential they are. Actually completely unnecessary to human flourishing.

reply

I like to think politicians’ knee jerk reaction to bitcoin is a subconscious admission of how useless they are

reply

Those that are intelligent and understand it. The minority. They aren't sending their best.

reply

Skin in the game. Politicians have short term narrow vision towards the next election. The system of democracy incentiveses this outcome. Many unintended consequences result. At best politicians are tools of the power elite. At worst they are self concerned criminals manipulating the public for their own profit.

reply

They’re both

reply

Yeah, they are both. But, if you wanna be charitable you can't really deny that they are tools. That includes presidents.

reply

Yup, the president is just the megaphone

reply

They can't even comprehend their own speeches. Someone else writes them to speak. So I doubt they understand any of their promises especially on bitcoin. Someone else calls the shots for them.

reply

The people they represent

reply

Politicians do not represent anybody, only their own personal interest into power and money.

reply

Their lack of knowledge and wisdom

reply

That they don't produce any goods or services that satisfy market demand

reply

The citizen’s demands go unanswered anyway and somehow ppl still dilude themselves into thinking they’ve made a difference

trading is for fiat maxis

reply

sounds like an accurate description of a poltician!

reply

any politician must be a fiat maxi. Otherwise they will lose their warm job, full of privileges.
Bitcoin and politics doesn't fit well together... no matter what they will do (lie), in the end they will reveal their true nature: fiat maxis.

reply

productive work

reply

Nuance (at least not the politicians who make enough news to succeed)

reply

this is true of many average citizens too imo lol

reply

There's this saying "speak truth to power" but I think they know and don't care, they're just happy it's not them eating the worst of it. I don't think they comprehend the hubris of putting on the act they do when they ignore poverty, engage in corruption, pass Inflation bills that cause inflation, etc.

reply

their limitations.

Rules for thee, not for me!
