Looking to have some input in finding valid alternatives to Google services, Youtube is one of the first polatform I'd like to replace. there's any valid alterative that can compare profits? How do you strategize around moving the community form YT to the new one?
I've found this option but I'd like more suggestions:
PeerTube.tv: enable a great V4V approach and apparently there is no advertisement system built in to the software like with Youtube. But you can... Find a sponsor yourself and embed their pitch into your content. This guy talk about a plugin with the Hive network? Maybe is possible to integrate Bitcoin somehow in PeerTube with a similar plugin?
Patreon.com works, but only fiat. I might find an audience willing to donate directly by bitcoin or sats and cut out the middleman.
I also heard about Odysee.com, joinPeertube.org and BitChute.com,
Another great one to keep staking sats is fountain.fm but does not allow video yet
Just wondering if you have any other suggestion or alternative from personal experience.
From the other side, any other podcast management and music and entertainment management please mention below
Thank you
Option 2: Also on ANY YT video viewers can pay you directly in sats, with ONE fucking click, using Alby extension browser. You just have to add a LN address or LNURL into your video description or "about" page of your channel. https://blog.getalby.com/use-alby-to-send-bitcoin-on-youtube/
Option 3: Another option, if you have your own website, you could use LNbits paywall extension for any video Here is an example https://btcoriginstories.com/

Option 3 is interesting.
And did I do anything wrong, why whenever I create a new store in LNbits, it would be gone if I log in again 😐
reply
  • are you using the demo site legend.lnbits.com?
  • are you using your own instance?
  • are you using a SaaS instance?
  • what store are you using? the old one or the new nostr market one?
  • did you followed my guide about nostr market?
reply
  • no
  • yes
  • I tried in both of my umbrel node and in voltage
  • the new one, with a notification of Nostr support coming soon
  • I read most of your guides 🥸
It stopped me from testing out more fun; supposedly, the store would still be there when you log back in, right? Even for all the extensions, I need to reinstall again; something wrong I must have done.
reply
Yes, if you configured correctly your stall market with items and stuff, it should stay there, in your admin section, even that for some reason the notes are not broadcast over nostr.
Maybe you did the stall with another user? be careful with multiple users. As I suggest in the guide, use the super-admin to configure the extensions, then create a main admin, with which you configure the stall etc and manage it, then from there create several other users (managed by that admin user) for other stuff you need LNbits.

I didn't share it with another user, but I might find out what went wrong! It seems you are supposed to bookmark the link instead of creating new instances every time when login. 🤣
reply
I didn't know about option 2 , that's so cool

There is a plugin for PeerTube that allows multiple ways to transfer Sats to video creators.
Works best with a Getalby.com wallet, but will work with any browser that supports WebLN. Beta test site at https://freediverse.com

YouTube is a window to the world.
If you already have your own audience, I'll go with one web site and a paywall with sats.
If you don't have a good audience yet, forget about HIVE or Odysee, you will get paid in shitcoins and tiny amounts.
reply
I primarily watch videos on Odysee, but I have no idea how much creators are able to make on there.
This is the first I've heard of PeerTube. It looks like there's no built in monetization, but the creator can plug-in the monetization system of their choice. That seems like it means LN is a possibility. I'll check it out when I have time.

if you're going to do video and you have an audience that will pay for it, you can basically just slap a BTCpay server up and link it to your node and shill that link everywhere you post content
As for returns, GDN cant be beat they've got the widest network of inventory and most competitive auction so if you're making a living off the ads you can't really move to other things like Rumble or the ones you mentioned above
As for podcast, check out fountain and podverse and music you can check out wavelake
