CRYPTOCOMPANIES
From one of my earlier posts this week, @Onions raised the major point of how newcomers often misconstrue 'Bitcoin' with 'crypto', which can easily derail someone's learning journey if they get caught up in the noise. I'm sure we can all agree that's a big problem. Bitcoin ≠ crypto, and we need to do a better job of highlighting that distinction.
So, are there any terms you feel better convey a shitcoin's shit-like nature to normies?
Excited to hear what other...uhhh..."endearing" words stackers have to share about altcoins ;)
Parasites?
Mēsliņmonētas (more or less "shitcoins" in Latvian).
The term altcoins is totally wrong. There's NO alternative to Bitcoin, apart from itself.
Saying "alt-coin" means you already recognize it as an alternative to Bitcoin and that is false. (only @jimmysong name them altcoins because he wants to be play nice).
All of them are pure scams.
In the earnest case, toycoins.
In the average case, scamcoins.
Garbage coins
Or sewage coins, toilet coins
Interesting experiments.
For example, someone: "hey bitcoiners, go change to PoS for teh planet! Ethereum did it and it's just fine!"
Everyone: (see other comments) me: that was an interesting experiment, but it should be considered a failure, as it unearthed a bunch of issues (mostly MEV-related) and Ethereum now plans another change in its consensus protocol.
Private CBDC. Puppetcoins
I still call them altcoins, as they've always been called. It makes it clear that it's "bitcoin" and "everything else". Altcoiners coined the term "crypto" to put them in the same category, when they're not.
TurdTokens
I like to call eth digital chuck e cheese tokens. I know I am not the only one who has used this terminology. I have seen a number of others but it is apt. Tokens to play stupid games and win stupid prizes.
PEASANTS
Traps. "Bitcoin is the only decentralized digital currency". The rest are traps, trying to get the people back to centralized systems.
